Year 2 were delighted to welcome Roy from Sentinus back to St. Colmcille’s, this time to do some investigating with shapes.
First up, we had a Shape Search around the classroom with the challenge of finding an interesting object that no one else had spotted. Year 2 certainly rose to the challenge, with Birthday Badges, dots on dice and laptop keys making the list 🧐
The challenge to organise individual lines into a 2d shape got us thinking, but with a lot of discussion and rearranging we were able to form the shapes successfully. 🟢🟪🔺
We especially loved using the magnetic 2d shapes to create tessellations; we were challenged to make rockets, crocodiles and houses.
A great morning’s work consolidating our knowledge of 2d shapes!
