Miss O’Kane’s Primary 5 class had a great morning. They went to Ballymena Library for a special visit from Andrew Whitsun, an author, illustrator and publisher from Belfast. Andrew told the children all about what inspired him as he was growing up and how he got into illustrating books. They heard all about the process of creating his stories and illustrations and he told them that he uses a special name when writing and illustrating books, Mr Ando. He taught the children some Irish, showed them his sketch books and gave them advice on how to do develop their drawing skills. They all then had a go at drawing some illustrations along with Mr Ando and even received a t-shirt each. I’m sure there are some future authors and illustrators in our class!
