This term we have been exploring our new topic of ‘Houses and Homes’ in Year 1.
We have been looking at all of the different houses that we live in, as well as houses around the world and from long ago. We looked at the different materials that are used and all agreed that living in an Igloo would be very chilly indeed!
In the block area we created multi-storey car parks, farms, castles and fairy houses. Block play is very important in helping to develop not only our coordination and motor skills, but also our ability to problem-solve and to work cooperatively with others.
As part of ‘Book Week’, we revisited the story of ‘The Three Little Pigs’ and recreated the three different houses.
We also celebrated Mother’s Day, World Book Day and Green Day.
